An enjoyable read! This book is arranged in bite-sized chapters (stories), and thus proved to be a great "alternative book" on my - for those times when I suddenly was bored with my "main book" and wanted something else for a bit. Recommended.
Linda Au takes the most mundane situations and turns them into a series of hilarious sketches. If you're looking for something to dip in and out of, you can't go wrong with this book. I highly recommend it.
I only give 5 stars to books that do the above. And this one did! Highly recommended. I literally laughed all the way through!
The author takes everyday household/marital issues that normal people can relate to, and makes them laugh-out-loud funny. Best three bucks you'll ever spend. (If you like to laugh, that is. If you're more the sourpuss type, you should probably keep looking.)
LINDA M AU IS HILARIOUS ALOT LIKE OUR BELOVED LATE ERMA BOOMBECK, HER STORIES HAVE BE LAUGHING OUT LOUD I DO WISH SHE WOULD WRITE MORE STORIES ABOUT HER KIDS. AND I DO WISH SHE WOULD MORE HILARIOUS BOOKS I JUST LOVE HER, AND YOU WILL LOVE HER BOOKS TOO.
Linda Au is a funny, wry and even wise observer with a keen eye and an even faster wit. While reading Linda's essays will, for brief moments, make me think of Erma Bombeck, Dave Barry and even Paul Poundstone (on her funny days), make no mistake-- Linda is an original mining the humor, not just out of everyday life, but the mundane in everyday life. With a wise wink to the reader and great compassion for the people she observes, Linda connects with all of us and lets us laugh with her and at ourselves. It is summer when I am writing this and it is true that this is a perfect summer read, but there is no time this book is out of season. Just grab this book and read a few pages anytime you need to remember what is great about being simply human.
Although there are some serious parts of the book, for most of it I couldn't stop laughing. If you're looking for some good, clean humor, this is a book for you. Linda Au has a knack for seeing the hilarious in every day situations and writing them into short little stories about her life.
