I liked this story. Really well thought out. Gory, but I guess that's just what zombies do. LaPolla has some long sentences that don't have commas. Also my favorite complaint: uses shined instead of shone, and mixed up past and passed. That said, I think I will start the next book.Product details

Starts slow, being bogged down by inner monologue. However, the world is fully realized, and you do feel a bond with the main character.
Just past the halfway point the action kicks in, and you are treated to a roller coaster ride leading to a pretty good cliffhanger.
Its a brisk read, so you dont have to invest too much time. You may as well buy the second book while you are at it since the story is in no way complete.
I tried to stick it out and even got the second book thinking it would get better.... not so much. Editing was pretty bad and the story lacked a lot.
I was glued to this book until the end. Through all the blood and gore, I had to finish. Not usually my genre, but will certainly read the others. Put yourself into the book and you will tremble.

Pacing was a bit slow at first, but the payoff justified the build. Looking forward to the next installment. Quality stortelling overall.
Lacked character & story development and jumps right into half-hearted action/drama with no real engaging dialogue. Events immediately begin hopping around with no fluidity and very little history and background is revealed as the story goes on. Cookie cutter characters that lack any depth. The author's actual writing is not bad though.
Great descriptions of the people and their surroundings. I could see the ice in the glacier in my minds eye. I recommend this book for everyone and I am going to get the second book right now!
